2.) How can I become part of the mailing list?
We encourage customers to signup for our periodic email
promotions whereby you will be receiving frequent specials from our
various stores on the items they offer for sale at discounted
prices, other special promotions may apply like discount hotel stays
and airline discounts, special arrangement with Kenya Airways and
other bus services to destinations within the country.

3.) How can I purchase Dukani gift cards? All Dukani stores affiliates will carry $10, $20, $25, & $50 gift cards. In response to strong consumer demand, we recently added the ability to view each Dukani store's online catalogue. Response to this new feature has been tremendously positive. At the same time, usage of the personal circular and other features of My Dukani Savings has remained low. As a result, we have decided to continue providing you with My Dukani Savings.

5.) As a shopper do I get charged any fee to shop at Dukani ? No, we do not charge shopper any fee, it is free. Come one and come all. View all the products we have and you can buy as many as you wish. We only charge you for the products you purchase. If you do not buy anything you pay nothing. No membership fee and no commitment fee as a shopper at Dukani.

9.) How do I get a Dukani
card?
The fastest way to get a card is to stop by your local Dukani and pick one up. Simply stop by the Service Desk and fill out
an application. You'll receive both a card and matching key tag cards
for added convenience. Another way to get your
Dukani Card is by using our online
application. Simply complete the online application form and
your cards will be sent to you by mail within 2-3 weeks.

10.) How do I cash a check at Dukani?
Currently we do not yet offer check cashing privileges at our
Dukani locations yet. Things are in the works and it is something we
are considering very carefully and will let you know as soon as we

11.) What is Dukani's policy on
doubling manufacturer coupons?
Manufacturer coupons must be presented before the order is rung
up. Only one manufacturer's coupon per item will be accepted. There
are no substitutions and the exact item featured on the coupon must
be purchased. The coupon cannot be redeemed after the expiration
date. Coupons with a face value of over $.99 will not be doubled*.
Total redemption may not exceed the retail value of the item. No
other food store's coupons are accepted.

12.) What do I do if I have purchased an
unsatisfactory product?
Simply return the product to the store where you purchased it
with your receipt. Our Customer Service associates will gladly
refund or replace the product. If you would like the manufacturer to
contact you, please fill out the special form that includes your
name, address, telephone number and the reason you are returning the
product.

Our Category Managers and Buyers continually review their
categories, market level data, and national information to see where
the trends are going in their categories and what National Brand
items are successful as a major means of deciding what Private Label
products to carry.

14.) Can I also shop online at Dukani if I
happen to be in Kenya ?
Dukani with her affiliate stores do not restrict you to be a
Dukani member to shop or you must have a computer to shop online at
our store locations. In fact, all you will need to make an online
shopping possible is to have a Debit card with a Visa or a master
card logo on it to shop on our website. Just remember, the card has
to have money to enable you to successfully shop and check out at
our store. If you happen to be in the country, Kenya, you can indeed
shop by going to a cyber cafe and shop online for you family who may
happen to be upcountry or in a different Town. Once done you just
send them the confirmation number to enable them to collect the
items at a local Supermarket.

15.) Why do products get moved
around?
From time to time, we do make changes in our stores to
accommodate new products and dedicate more room to growing
categories of products. Some of the changes also are in response to
requests or suggestions that we have received from customers. These
types of changes often cause a domino affect resulting in many items
being relocated. Whenever we make changes, we will post signs
letting customers know the new location of the product. We also
update the overhead directories and paper directories, which are
available at the customer service desk.

the handicapped shopper?
All stores have two or more motorized shopping carts. Shoppers
who would like to use the motorized cart may obtain a key at the
Service Desk. We also have special shopping carts that accommodate
wheelchairs. Please feel free to ask your Store Manager for

Currently we operate pharmacies in many of our stores. Use our store locator to
find the pharmacy closest to you. Drop off your prescription before
you begin your shopping trip and it will be ready when you have
finished. You can also order your prescription refills
online. We accept a wide variety of pharmacy plans and our
knowledgeable and friendly pharmacists will be happy to answer any
of your questions.

discontinued?
Products may get discontinued for a number of reasons: They have
been discontinued by the manufacturer. Products that are not selling
well also may be discontinued to provide room for other products
that our customers are requesting, or products may be temporarily
discontinued on a seasonal basis.

20.) Why is ground beef sometimes brown on
the inside?
The red color that most people associate with fresh meat is
simply meat that has been exposed to and combined with oxygen.
Pigments found in animal muscle combine with oxygen to give this red
color. It is normal to find this red color on the outer portion of
ground beef, since this is the part of the meat that is in contact
with the oxygen in the air. In addition, it is normal to find that
the inner portions are darker in color (brownish or purplish) due to
lack of contact with air.

still safe to eat?
Obey the 2-hour rule. Don't leave perishable foods out of the
refrigerator for more than two hours. Keep hot foods (140 degrees or
above) and cold foods cold (40 degrees or below).

22.) How safe is it to Shop online at Dukani
?
Yes, It is indeed very safe to shop at our online store,
Dukani.com. We use the latest technology which provide secure
computer online shopping environment which encrypts a customer's
individual credit card, bank and personal information between the
computer where you are working on and the bank or the outside world.
We, however, still highly recommend that caution must be taken
especially when you are using public computer in a cyber café. Make
sure you do not let prying eyes view your personal information or
your order number or details. This may cause a breach of your
personal security.

23.) How long does it take for my family to
receive my orders?
This will really depend on how quick you are. What we can promise
is that it is instantaneous. As soon as you are done shopping and
you check out the items out and paid for them, you should be
able to send your folks an SMS or an email or just make a quick
phone call. When they receive the order number they can go to their
local supermarket and pick the items. Remember, they will have to
have the required identification papers and the right answers to the
questions you pose when you finished shopping before they can be
allowed to collect the merchandize.

24.) What Paper work will I need to collect
Items from a local super market?
A recognized national ID or a passport and a secret word or
answer to a question. The ID MUST have a
picture of the person collecting the items and the name on the ID or
password must match the person's name for which the order is meant
to go to. Now, if the above information are not matching and the
recipient is not having the right answer to the questions asked by
the person who shopped, then that will automatically warrant a
denial of the collection of the items.

26.) What causes the inside of tin cans to
discolor?
The discoloration is called detinning. Detinning is an
interaction between an acidic product such as tomatoes, juices,
pickles and sauerkraut, the tin-plate and a small amount of oxygen
that is left remaining in the can after it is sealed. This reaction
will continue until the oxygen is depleted. The appearance is
unpleasant, but it is not harmful in any way.

27.) What is the shiny glass-like substance
sometimes seen in canned fish?
Struvites in canned tuna are often mistaken as glass. Struvite is
a phenomenon that occurs during the processing of the fish. It is
made up of natural mineral components that precipitates out of fish
during the canning process. This is not a harmful situation since
the struvite, if swallowed, would dissolve in the stomach.
Manufacturers work hard to prevent the formation of struvite.

Dukani caries an increasing number of organic products
in our produce, dairy, grocery, bakery and frozen food departments.
All our organic foods, including produce, are packaged, in order to
be labeled organic food must meet specific government guidelines.
